How to make a new jewellers bench from an old desk!
If you need a new bench I recommend looking at this website –

That’s how I built my bench and I estimate it cost about $50. I did have help from Andrew Bartlett furniture maker from the JamFactory, but I tried to do most of it myself, cutting the half circle was tricky!
I picked up an old desk on gumtree, hard rubbish would also be a good place to look! The desk I found is a good size, has two sets of drawers and has a steel frame underneath. It’s good if the top can be easily removed, some older desks are made like this and the top is secured with clips. The original top was in terrible condition so I had to replace the top which was luckily donated to me. This desk also came with a file draw. It’s a very large draw which has room for a tool holder, basically a piece of wood with holes in it! I also made the file holder which works really great!
The instructions on the website are very good and easy to follow.
I love my Frankenbench!
