Bench Tips

Here is a place to share your bench tips! I often hear tips that are very useful and thought I would share them. If anyone else has any tips to share please post them. Hopefully you will find them useful too.

Bench Tip no. 1
I really hate it when I am working with pliers and they mark my work! I use parallel pliers often and nylon tips just don't cut it. I usually cover my pliers with masking tape, but it doesn't last long and leaves a sticky, messy residue on the pliers when you need to remove it.
I had a whole bunch of heat shrink tubing, these make excellent covers for your pliers. I just cut the tube to length of the tip and use a heat gun to shrink it down. The beauty being that if you need to use the pliers without the covers, they just slip off and as they are now shaped to fit your pliers slip back on again when you need it. They don't last forever, but its a cheap alternative to nylon pliers which you need to replace eventually anyway.
